Gujarat Common Entrance Test & ACPC Gujarat • Conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) & ACPC
Based on the GSEB / NCERT-Aligned Class 11 and 12 Science Curriculum
The GUJCET syllabus is drawn almost entirely from the Class 11 and Class 12 Gujarat Board (GSHSEB) Science stream curriculum, which itself closely mirrors the NCERT syllabus followed nationally for JEE Main. This overlap is intentional and highly favourable to students, since serious preparation for JEE Main largely doubles as GUJCET preparation, with only minor differences in problem style and difficulty emphasis.

Candidates applying only for Pharmacy courses via the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) stream are exempt from the Mathematics paper and are instead assessed for pharmacy eligibility using their Physics and Chemistry performance alongside their Class 12 Biology board marks. The GUJCET question paper itself, however, does not include a separate Biology test — Biology marks used in pharmacy eligibility screening come directly from the board examination.
Because the GUJCET syllabus is essentially a subset of the JEE Main syllabus (JEE Main additionally tests a marginally broader scope and deeper application-level problems), students preparing seriously for JEE Main rarely need a separate GUJCET-specific study plan. The main adjustment needed is practicing GSEB board-style direct, formula-application questions rather than the multi-concept, higher-difficulty problems typical of JEE Main, since GUJCET questions tend to be more straightforward NCERT-based recall and single-concept application items.
| Subject | Consistently High-Weightage Chapters |
|---|---|
| Physics | Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, Ray Optics, Modern Physics, Rotational Motion |
| Chemistry | Periodic Table & Properties, Coordination Compounds, Organic Reaction Mechanisms, Chemical Bonding |
| Mathematics | Calculus (Limits, Continuity, Differentiation, Integration), Vectors & 3D Geometry, Probability |
Students who studied under CBSE (using standard NCERT textbooks) rather than the Gujarat State Board should note that GSEB's own textbooks, while broadly aligned with NCERT, occasionally sequence or emphasize certain sub-topics slightly differently. It is worth cross-checking the official GUJCET syllabus PDF (released with the information bulletin) against whichever textbook a student has primarily studied from, to identify and cover any gap topics.
Because GUJCET's syllabus is drawn strictly from the Class 11-12 curriculum without JEE Main's slightly extended application scope, a small number of advanced application-style topics tested in JEE Main (particularly complex multi-concept Physics problems and higher Mathematics topics like advanced Probability distributions) receive lighter emphasis in GUJCET. This generally works in students' favour, since it narrows the effective preparation scope relative to JEE Main.
