How to Download, Check Responses, and File an Objection
GSEB releases the provisional GUJCET answer key within roughly a week of the exam, giving candidates their first opportunity to estimate their score before the official result. This is followed by a formal objection window, after which a final answer key is published incorporating any accepted corrections, and the final result is generated strictly from this final key.

If a candidate believes a published answer is incorrect, GSEB typically allows objections to be filed online within a short window (often 3-5 days), usually requiring a nominal fee per question challenged, along with supporting reference material (NCERT textbook page, standard reference, or similar authoritative source). The fee is usually refunded if the challenge is upheld. A subject-expert committee reviews all objections before finalizing the key.
The final answer key is the sole basis for computing official GUJCET raw scores and subsequent percentiles. If a question is dropped entirely (due to a printing error or an unresolvable ambiguity), full marks for that question are typically awarded to all candidates who attempted the exam, consistent with standard board-exam-style grace marking policy used by GSEB.
Because GUJCET's marking scheme is a simple +1/-0.25, candidates can precisely calculate their likely raw score using the final answer key and their OMR carbon copy. This is particularly useful for GUJCET because, unlike many CBT exams, there is no instant on-screen score — the wait between exam day and official result can stretch to five or six weeks, making self-assessment via the answer key the only early indicator of performance.
In most recent cycles, the number of successfully upheld objections against the GUJCET provisional key has been small relative to the total question count, indicating the initial key is generally reliable — but the review mechanism remains an important safeguard, particularly for Chemistry questions involving borderline IUPAC nomenclature conventions or Physics questions with unit-ambiguity, which are the categories most commonly challenged.
Since the gap between the exam and the official result can extend to several weeks, self-calculated scores using the final answer key are the earliest reliable input students have for feeding into GUJCET college predictor and rank estimation exercises — well before the provisional merit list becomes available.
Once a candidate has calculated their likely raw score from the final answer key, comparing that score against previous years' rough score-to-percentile trends (available through coaching platforms and aggregator sites, while awaiting the official result) can give an early, approximate sense of competitive standing, though this should always be treated as a preliminary estimate rather than a confirmed outcome.
Historically, the most frequent objection categories raised against GUJCET provisional keys have involved Chemistry nomenclature ambiguities, Physics questions with unclear diagram labelling, and occasionally a Mathematics question with more than one technically valid interpretation. Candidates raising objections are encouraged to cite a specific NCERT/GSEB textbook page or an equivalent authoritative reference rather than a general assertion.
In the days immediately after the exam, before the provisional key is officially released, students should avoid relying on informal, unverified 'leaked' answer keys circulating on social media or messaging apps, since these are frequently inaccurate and can cause unnecessary anxiety. Waiting for the officially published provisional key from GSEB, even if it takes a few extra days, remains the only reliable basis for self-assessment.
Candidates are advised to retain their downloaded provisional and final answer key PDFs, along with their own marked OMR carbon copy, for at least the duration of the full admission cycle (through final ACPC seat confirmation), since these documents can become relevant if any discrepancy in recorded marks needs to be raised during later verification stages.
