Gujarat Common Entrance Test & ACPC Gujarat • Conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) & ACPC
Centralised Online Admission Process for Engineering, Pharmacy & Diploma Courses in Gujarat
ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses), functioning under the Gujarat government's Directorate of Technical Education, conducts the entire centralised counselling process for Degree Engineering, Pharmacy, Diploma Engineering, Diploma Pharmacy, MBA, MCA, and other professional courses across the state. GUJCET and board percentile results simply feed the merit list ACPC uses — students must separately register on the ACPC portal (acpc.gujarat.gov.in) to actually participate in seat allotment.

Because ACPC allows an effectively unlimited number of ranked choices, students are strongly advised to list every college-branch combination they would accept, ordered strictly by genuine preference, rather than listing only a handful of 'dream' options. A short or overly conservative choice list is the single most common reason students end up with no allotment in early rounds and must wait for later rounds or the spot round, often losing out on better available options that filled up earlier.
Once allotted a seat, candidates typically must pay a partial fee and complete document verification/reporting within a tight window (often just a few days) to confirm the seat; failing to report in time can result in automatic forfeiture. ACPC's float/freeze mechanism allows candidates to keep trying for a better option across rounds without losing their current allotment, though cancelling a confirmed seat after a certain round may attract a partial fee forfeiture as a deterrent against seat-blocking.
Candidates who miss the choice-filling window for a given round, or who do not respond to an allotment within the reporting deadline, typically forfeit that round's opportunity but generally remain eligible to participate in subsequent rounds, provided they had completed initial registration and document verification — though specific rules on re-entry after inaction can vary and should be checked in that year's counselling brochure.
Beyond the GUJCET application fee, ACPC counselling itself typically involves a separate registration fee and, at the point of seat confirmation, an acceptance/admission fee that is partially adjusted against the institute's actual tuition. Candidates should budget for these as distinct costs from the GUJCET exam fee and check the current year's ACPC information brochure for exact amounts.
For candidates who face difficulty completing document verification fully online, ACPC designates physical Facilitation Centres (typically at selected government colleges) where candidates can get their documents checked and verified in person. This option is particularly useful for first-generation college applicants or those in areas with limited internet access.
ACPC primarily communicates round results, schedule changes, and important notices via the official portal along with SMS/email alerts sent to the mobile number and email registered at the ACPC registration stage — candidates should ensure these contact details are accurate and actively monitored throughout the multi-month counselling period, since missed communications are a common cause of missed deadlines.
