Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) • Conducted by Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs - JAB on Rotational Basis)
Release Timeline, Mandatory Contents, and Discrepancy Resolution
The JEE Advanced admit card is released online a few days after registration closes and remains downloadable through the exam day. Since JEE Advanced is held only once at a fixed nationwide date and time, all eligible, registered candidates receive their admit card simultaneously rather than in a staggered, shift-wise release as seen in multi-shift exams like JEE Main.

Single Fixed Nationwide Date
• Candidate's name, photograph, and signature as carried over from JEE Main registration.
• JEE Advanced registration number and roll number.
• Allotted exam city, test center address, and zone (organizing IIT zone).
• Paper 1 and Paper 2 reporting times and detailed exam-day instructions.
• List of permitted and prohibited items inside the exam hall.
Candidates log into the JEE Advanced candidate portal using their registration number and password (or JEE Main credentials, depending on that year's system integration), navigate to the admit card section, and download the PDF once released. It is advisable to download well ahead of the exam date and print multiple copies.
Any error noticed on the admit card — incorrect personal details, wrong exam city, or category mismatch — should be reported immediately to the JEE Advanced helpdesk of the organizing zonal IIT for that year, since the compressed timeline between admit card release and the exam date leaves very little room for correction requests to be processed. Category or personal detail mismatches often trace back to errors in the original JEE Main application, which candidates should have verified at that earlier stage.
Candidates are typically required to report to their allotted test center at least 60-90 minutes before each paper's scheduled start time, since biometric verification, frisking, and seating allocation for a high-security exam like JEE Advanced can take considerable time, especially at larger centers. Since Paper 1 and Paper 2 are held in the morning and afternoon of the same day, candidates should also plan for the mandatory security check-in process to repeat before Paper 2, even though it occurs at the same venue.
• Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, and any other electronic gadgets.
• Calculators, log tables, slide rules, and any printed or written material.
• Wallets, handbags, and any non-essential personal items beyond the admit card, ID proof, and permitted stationery.
Candidates should retain their admit card safely even after completing the exam, since it may be required again during the results verification stage, JoSAA registration, or subsequent document verification steps of the admission process, depending on the specific year's procedural requirements.
The admit card is typically released online about one to two weeks before the exam date, once registration and fee payment are confirmed for all eligible candidates.
A valid government-issued photo ID matching the type declared during JEE Main/JEE Advanced registration must be carried to the exam center.
Contact the helpdesk of your allotted zone's organizing IIT immediately, since the compressed timeline before the exam leaves limited room for corrections.
