Cochin University of Science and Technology Common Admission Test • Conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT)
CUSAT's Own Campuses & Affiliated Engineering College Network Across Kerala
CUSAT CAT scores are accepted exclusively for admission into CUSAT's own constituent campuses and a defined network of CUSAT-affiliated engineering colleges situated across Kerala. Unlike KEAM, which spans hundreds of government and private colleges statewide, the CUSAT CAT ecosystem is comparatively compact and centrally administered by the university itself.
In addition to its own campuses, CUSAT CAT ranks are used for admission to nearly 30 affiliated self-financing engineering colleges spread across Kerala districts. Notable examples include:
A common point of confusion for applicants is that CUSAT (the university) and School of Engineering, CUSAT (SOE) are sometimes referenced interchangeably, but SOE is specifically the engineering college under the university's own administration at the Thrikkakkara campus, distinct from the broader university which also runs science, management, law, and humanities departments and oversees the wider affiliated college network.

Affiliated colleges under CUSAT benefit from the university's common curriculum, standardized examination and evaluation framework, and shared accreditation support — meaning degree quality and syllabus consistency remain comparable to the main SOE campus even though admission cutoffs and campus infrastructure can vary widely between individual affiliated colleges.
A portion of seats at SOE and some affiliated colleges are reserved for JEE Main rank holders, NRI quota, and management quota candidates, meaning the total CAT-based intake at any given college is typically less than its full sanctioned seat strength. Candidates should check the specific seat matrix for their target college published in the official admission brochure each year.
