Checking Your Allotment Status After Each Special Round
"Result" in the CSAB context means the seat allotment outcome published after each Special Round — not a score or percentile, since there is no exam. Each round produces a fresh allotment list showing which candidates were allotted which institute-branch combination.
Results for Special Round 1 are typically declared within a day or two of the choice-locking deadline, followed by Special Round 2 results roughly a week later, in line with the compressed overall CSAB timeline running through early-to-mid August.
• Step 1: Log in to your candidate dashboard on csab.nic.in using your registration credentials.
• Step 2: Navigate to the "Seat Allotment Result" or "Allotment Status" section.
• Step 3: View your allotted institute, branch, and category (if allotted), or a "not allotted" status if no vacant choice matched your rank in that round.
• Step 4: Download the Seat Allotment Letter if allotted, and proceed to select your response option (freeze/float/slide/withdraw).
Candidate's JEE Main rank and category; the specific institute and branch allotted (if any) in that round; the round number; and a deadline for response and fee payment. If not allotted in a given round, the candidate automatically remains in consideration for the next round unless they explicitly withdraw.
Since CSAB uses the already-finalized JEE Main rank (which itself may have involved NTA's inter-session normalization, if applicable, for multi-shift exams), there is no additional normalization step within CSAB's own allotment process — ranks are used exactly as received from the JEE Main/JoSAA database.
| Status Shown | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Allotted | You have been allotted one of your locked choices; respond with freeze/float/slide |
| Not Allotted | No choice on your list had a vacant seat matching your rank in this round; you remain eligible for the next round |
| Withdrawn | You have exited the process and will not be considered in subsequent rounds |
| Document Verification Pending | You accepted a seat but have not yet completed the required verification step |
Candidates who remain unallotted after both Special Rounds conclude their CSAB participation for that cycle, unless a further supplementary or supernumerary round is announced that year. At this point, candidates should evaluate alternative options, including state-level counselling processes, private university admissions, or preparing for the next year's JEE Main cycle.
,If a candidate believes their allotment result does not correctly reflect their locked choices or eligibility, they should raise a grievance through the official CSAB helpdesk promptly, since response windows for each round are short and delays in flagging discrepancies can result in missed opportunities to correct the issue within that round's timeline.
,Since CSAB results are declared separately for Special Round 1, Special Round 2, and CSAB-NEUT (where applicable), candidates should maintain a simple personal log of their status after each round to avoid confusion about which deadlines and response options currently apply to them.
JoSAA typically declares results across five to six rounds spread over several weeks, giving candidates more breathing room between decisions. CSAB compresses this into just two Special Rounds within roughly two weeks, meaning candidates must be prepared to make quick, well-informed decisions with far less deliberation time per round than JoSAA allows.
Screenshot or save a copy of your status after every round, even if not allotted, since this record can be useful if you need to raise a grievance or clarify your participation history at any later stage of the process.
If you are simultaneously tracking a JoSAA seat and a CSAB status, keep both clearly separated in your personal notes, since confusing the two processes' deadlines is a common and costly mistake during this compressed period.
Typically within a day or two of each round's choice-locking deadline, following a compressed schedule through early-to-mid August.
You automatically remain in consideration for Special Round 2 unless you explicitly withdraw from the process.
