How the Final Engineering Rank Combines KEAM Score With Plus Two Marks
KEAM results are declared in two stages: first, individual marks publication shortly after the final answer key (typically late May to early June), followed by the final engineering rank list in mid-to-late June, which combines the candidate's KEAM score with their Plus Two (Class 12) board marks using CEE's normalized 50:50 weightage formula.

CEE converts both the candidate's KEAM score (out of 600 for the Engineering paper) and their Plus Two board marks (normalized to a comparable scale) into equal-weightage components, combining them to compute a final composite score used to rank all candidates for engineering admission purposes. Pharmacy admission may use a separate, distinct weightage methodology as specified by CEE.
Candidates log into their CEE candidate portal account using their registration number and password to view and download their rank card, showing their KEAM raw score, Plus Two marks considered, the computed composite score, and their final overall and category-wise rank.
• Candidate's name, photograph, and registration number.
• Subject-wise and total raw KEAM score (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry).
• Plus Two board marks considered for the 50:50 weightage calculation.
• Final composite score and overall KEAM engineering merit rank.
• Category-wise rank (for reserved category candidates under Kerala's communal reservation framework, where applicable).
Because Plus Two board marks contribute equally alongside the KEAM score, candidates cannot afford to neglect their board exam preparation in favor of KEAM-specific practice alone (or vice versa) — a strong KEAM score can be significantly undermined by weak board marks, making balanced preparation across both essential.
Candidates who completed Class 12 through a board other than Kerala's state board (such as CBSE or ICSE) have their marks converted to an equivalent scale for the 50:50 weightage formula, using an equivalence methodology published by CEE; such candidates should verify their converted marks appear correctly on their rank card.
If a candidate's rank card shows an apparent discrepancy (such as incorrect Plus Two marks being considered), they should raise a formal query with CEE promptly, providing their original marks card as supporting evidence, since this data feeds directly into rank computation.
The final rank list declaration directly triggers the opening of KEAM's Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) counselling registration, typically within one to two weeks, making it important for candidates to be ready with all required original documents immediately after results are announced rather than waiting until counselling registration formally opens.
CEE sometimes publishes an initial provisional rank list, followed by a revised final rank list after resolving any identified discrepancies in Plus Two marks data or other candidate-specific issues flagged during the results window; candidates should rely on the final, confirmed rank list when planning their counselling strategy.
Candidates who registered for the B.Pharm stream receive a separate rank list computed from their Physics and Chemistry-only paper score, distinct from the Engineering rank list, since Pharmacy admission does not use the same Mathematics-inclusive scoring or necessarily the identical weightage methodology as Engineering.
Candidates should download and securely save their KEAM rank card PDF promptly upon declaration, since it typically serves as a required document during CAP counselling registration and document verification, and online portal access to a specific year's detailed result data is not guaranteed to remain available indefinitely. Keeping both digital and printed copies is advisable given the multi-stage, multi-month nature of the subsequent counselling process.
Individual marks are typically published in late May/early June, followed by the final engineering rank list (incorporating the 50:50 weightage with Plus Two marks) in mid-to-late June.
It combines the candidate's normalized KEAM score and normalized Plus Two board marks with equal 50% weightage each to produce a composite score, which determines the final merit rank.
Raise a formal query with CEE promptly, providing your original Plus Two marks card as supporting evidence, since this data directly affects your composite score and rank.
