Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process • Conducted by Centre for Electronic Governance (CEG) Rajasthan & RTU Kota
Registration, Choice Filling, Seat Allotment, Sliding, and Reporting Explained
REAP counselling is the centerpiece of Rajasthan's engineering admission process. Understanding its specific mechanics — including the dual-priority structure and internal sliding — is essential preparation for any candidate once their JEE Main score (or Class 12 marks) is in hand.
• 1. Registration: Create an account on the REAP portal, fill personal/academic details, and pay the registration fee.
• 2. Document Upload & Verification: Upload mark sheets, category and domicile certificates, and JEE Main details; await verification confirmation.
• 3. Choice Filling: Rank-order preferred college-branch combinations across the 100+ participating colleges.
• 4. Choice Locking: Finalize and lock the choice list before the round deadline — this cannot be edited after locking for that round.
• 5. Seat Allotment: The algorithm matches merit rank/percentage against locked choices and seat availability, processing Priority 1 candidates before Priority 2.
• 6. Freeze/Float/Slide Decision: Allotted candidates choose to freeze (accept finally), float (stay in for a potential cross-college upgrade), or use internal sliding (branch change within the same college).
• 7. Fee Payment & Physical Reporting: Confirmed candidates pay the requisite fee and report physically to the allotted institute with original documents within the stated window.
| Round | Who Participates | Key Action |
|---|---|---|
| Round 1 | Priority 1 (JEE Main) candidates, including specific sub-pools (TFWS, out-of-state) | First allotment based on JEE Main percentile |
| Round 2 onward | Continuing Priority 1 + entering Priority 2 candidates | Upgradation and residual-seat allotment |
| Internal Sliding | Already-allotted candidates | Branch change within the same allotted college |
| Final/Spot Rounds | Remaining unallotted or seeking candidates | Allotment of any still-vacant seats |
• List choices in genuinely descending order of preference — the algorithm always allots the highest-priority choice your rank qualifies for.
• Include a realistic spread across at least 3-4 competitiveness tiers (see the Analysis tab) to avoid ending a round with no allotment.
• If targeting a specific branch like CSE, consider listing it across multiple colleges at different tiers rather than only at MBM Jodhpur, to maximize the chance of securing that branch somewhere in Rajasthan.
• Priority 2 (board-marks-track) candidates should have realistic expectations and prioritize colleges/branches that typically have seats remaining after Priority 1 allocation.
If you are satisfied with your allotted college but want a better branch, internal sliding is generally the lower-risk option compared to a full float, since it does not risk losing your seat at that institution entirely. Candidates should understand their specific cycle's exact sliding rules (timing, eligibility, whether it can be combined with floating) before deciding which option to use.
Failing to report or pay the requisite fee by the stated deadline after a seat allotment typically results in forfeiture of that seat, released back into the pool for subsequent rounds.
| Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Seat Allotment Letter | Primary proof of the specific round's allotment |
| JEE Main Scorecard & Admit Card | Eligibility proof carried forward from the national exam |
| Class 10 and Class 12 Certificates | Academic eligibility verification |
| Category Certificate (if applicable) | For claiming reserved-category seat consideration |
| Rajasthan Domicile Certificate | For accessing the state-quota seats in government colleges |
| Fee Payment Receipts | Proof of counselling and admission fee payment |
• Ensure category certificates are issued by a currently valid, competent Rajasthan authority — certificates from other states or expired certificates are commonly rejected during verification.
• TFWS candidates should verify their income-certificate validity period specifically, since these often have shorter validity windows and may need fresh issuance closer to the registration date.
• Understand that reserved-category seats not filled by eligible candidates in a round may, per CEG's de-reservation norms, sometimes convert to general-category availability in later stages.
Candidates who decide to withdraw from REAP entirely — for instance, after securing a seat elsewhere through JoSAA, CSAB, or another state's process — should follow the official withdrawal procedure within the specified window, since partial fee refunds (where applicable) are typically tied to withdrawing within a defined deadline rather than simply not reporting.
REAP has run as many as eight to ten rounds in recent cycles (including sub-rounds for specific pools), plus a separate internal sliding round.
Floating risks losing your current seat for a chance at a better one at a different college; internal sliding lets you change branch within your already-allotted college without that risk.
The seat is typically forfeited and released back into the pool for later rounds.
